Recognized for his expertise in crisis management, public affairs and speech writing, Threlkeld, who is now retired, spearheaded JW’s work in crisis communication and public affairs. He also directed award-winning grassroots issues campaigns for a variety of clients, including PacifiCare of Colorado and the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry.
Before beginning his career in public relations, Threlkeld was a reporter and editor for 15 years at the Denver Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post. His beats included Washington correspondent, state and local government affairs reporter and editorial page writer.
Threlkeld has been a frequent guest speaker and lecturer on crisis communication and issues management before numerous groups and organizations, including the Society of Professional Journalists, the University of Denver Graduate School of Mass Communication and the University of Colorado School of Business.
A Colorado native, Threlkeld received a bachelor of arts in American history from the University of Colorado. He taught junior high school in Grand Junction, Colo., and served in the Peace Corps in Western Africa before beginning his career as a newspaper reporter.
