A BERNINA sewing machine or a brand new BMW?

BERNINA 330

David Hyatt of Dallas, Texas, national winner of BERNINA of America’s “Test Drive a BERNINA 3 Series” sweepstakes, opted to take a cash prize so he could purchase his first BERNINA sewing machine, rather than keep the 3 Series® BMW sedan which was the offered sweepstakes prize.

Hyatt, 58, test drove a 3 Series sewing machine at the BERNINA Sewing Center inside the Hancock Fabrics at Firewheel Town Center, just northeast of Dallas. Sewing has been a lifelong, passion, hobby and profitable sideline for Hyatt, who spent 18 years as working in the healthcare industry.

“It’s a creative outlet and I enjoy working with all kinds of fabrics,” he said. “I like to sew everything, and now I find I’m interested in machine embroidery.”

Hyatt sews clothes for himself and his sisters and has created three patchwork quilts. For many years, he completed all kinds of upholstery for fun and as a supplemental income. He’s covered car and motorcycle seats, couches, chairs and ottomans. He said he obtained customers through word of mouth.

Faegre & Benson Practices Ranked Nationwide by Chambers, Among Best in Colorado and Minnesota
Wednesday, 23 June 2010 18:53

Three Faegre & Benson LLP practices—product liability, Indian tribes, and franchise and distribution—have received nationwide rankings in the 2010 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

The firm's product liability practice is new to the Products Liability & Mass Torts: Nationwide listing this year. Chambers highlights the practice's "strength in pharmaceutical and agricultural matters" and its role as national counsel for Novartis in hormone therapy multidistrict litigation proceedings in the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Moving to band 1 this year, the Indian tribes practice has recently represented a number of syndicated bank lenders in the restructuring of distressed loans to Indian tribes. "Clients are attracted by the group's deep understanding of tribal finance and strong lines of communication with federal agencies," according to Chambers.

After making a jump to band 2 in this last year's listing, the firm's franchise practice is included among the nation's elite providers of legal services to franchisors in a range of industries. Representing more than 200 franchisors across the globe, lawyers in the practice "approach matters with an expert level of legal knowledge, but perhaps more importantly, with business objectives and company history in mind," a client told Chambers.

Videos for SBIRT & CCGC Help Promote Wellness
Wednesday, 06 January 2010 18:30

A series of videos are being featured by SBIRT Colorado (Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment) and CCGC (Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative), to help illustrate how SBIRT and motivational interviewing can help health care providers work with patients to create a greater awareness about America’s number one preventable health issue – substance abuse.

Hosted on the SBIRT Colorado and CCGC Web sites, these short videos explain the SBIRT process and provide mock scenarios in which SBIRT and motivational interviewing are used with patients. CCGC is a nonprofit coalition of health plans, physicians, hospitals, employers, government agencies, quality improvement organizations, and other entities working together to improve health and health care in Colorado.  This organization created the SBIRT guidelines, which are being distributed to primary care providers across Colorado. SBIRT Colorado is an initiative funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to the Office of Governor Bill Ritter, Jr., administered by the Division of Behavioral Health and managed by Peer Assistance Services, Inc.
